Poth Brewing Co.

Poth Brewing Co. originally named “Javob Bentz Brewery” was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1864. Later sold to Frederick A. Poth in 1870, Frederick renamed the Brewery to F.A. Poth & Sons Brewing Co. in 1887. Frederick was born in Wallhalben, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, he immigranted to Philadelphia in the mid 19th century. He went on to build one of the largest breweries in Philadelphia, Poth Brewery produced thousands of barrels of beer each year. Types of Beer that they produced Poth’s Beer, Poth’s Erlanger Dark Beer, Poth’s XX, Poth’s Extra Beer and Tivoli Export. They were located at 31st between Jefferson & Master.
